Steve said he regretted having the beer he consumed at the Dog. Later this afternoon he reported he felt rather tired. He blamed it on the beer. For Steve to criticize beer is a major crisis on the Sea-Brem Team. This must be corrected. Steve spent considerable time prior to the trip researching taverns along the Santa Fe trail. That was his job and he did it well. He knows stuff like where the oldest operating tavern on the Santa Fe trail is located. We still have 650 miles to go, through the Great Plains. We will need beer and we will need Steve to like it (though it is definitely less appealing in the rain).
Sherri (wife of Russ) arrived this afternoon. She took one look at our sleeping accommodations and strongly suggested that Russ retreat with her to the local travel lodge. Steve is now calling Russ, "Hotel Boy."
The women's volleyball team has now been replaced by the men's basketball team, who are practicing with great verbal gusto on Jim Voupel Court (which, by the way, is my f... bedroom tonight!). Will we ever get to sleep. That is the question.
This afternoon's stats: We picked up this tidbit of intelligence from a student wearing a UW T-shirt (tried to get on the rowing team). The college is famous for its basketball teams and gunsmith program. Students are allowed to keep firearms in their dorms. Basically, they are all armed. So I guess we'll let them play basketball as long as they want.
